MSWI to open second maritime school in Grenada
by Carol BareutherThe Maritime School of the West Indies based in St.Maarten reports that it will soon open a second school in Grenada. Company representatives are negotiating with Peter De Savary’s management to have an office open by the end of the year in the new Port Louis Marina. MSWI is an International Yacht Training-affiliated institution that has instructed megayacht crew and day charter boats crew from St.Maarten and Curacao over the past years. Class 4 Captain and official IYT instructor Lou Hoffman will start up the first courses in Grenada while the school looks for local people willing to become instructors. Next to the STCW’95 course, MSWI reports that they will also start with sailing courses, RIB courses, bareboat charter captain licenses, Master 200 Ton yachtmaster courses and others. The school will work in close co-operation with the Grenada Marine Trades Association and the Grenada government.
