New Puerto Rico Drydock
by Carol BareutherSan Juan Towing & Marine Services, a contractor that provides a variety of ship repair services in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, has purchased a new dry dock facility. Perseverance is a 150-foot long by 70-foot wide drydock capable of lifting vessels of up to 1000 tons. While the drydock was in Harvey, Louisiana, in preparation for its move to Puerto Rico in October, San Juan Towing trained personnel with the skills necessary to provide the trades needed to support to the dock. Two employees were formally trained at the Navy’s Dockmaster Course sponsored by the US Navy Sea Systems Command, while two others attended a University of New Orleans-sponsored Project Managers Course.
