Thuraya IP, an advanced satellite modem that guarantees internet connectivity at an incredible 384 kbps for streaming IP across 110 countries and in remote locations, was debuted by Ft. Lauderdale, FL-based Global Satellite USA, in July. Now, bandwidth-hungry applications such as transmission of store and forward video, live video and video conferencing can be deployed at highly competitive rates.

"It's exciting to be one of the first organizations in the US to have access to a superior ‘always on' quick Internet access, that is ultra lightweight at less than 3lbs," says president, Martin Fierstone.  "Although small and compact, it also has a high level of robustness with Ingress Protection (IPSS), making this combination ideal for the oil and gas industry or any other tough environment."

The Thuraya IP is extremely easy to use and has a basic ‘plug and play' policy.  There is an Ethernet Interface (RJ45), a USB Interface and most importantly, no software installation is required. To set up, simply connect the Thuraya IP to a laptop, point to the satellite and enjoy satellite broadband services. Thuraya IP guarantees a permanent connection and does not suffer from any hot spot congestion.

Thuraya IP comes complete with GmPRs encryption and can connect seamlessly via your preferred VPN application.

In other news, Global Satellite USA announces its GSA/FAS contract.  The contract has been awarded for general purchase commercial information technology equipment, software and services.
